History
On December 14, 2006, 45 Christian soldiers met at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, East Chicago, IN under the leadership of Pastor Darnell L. Johnson, to organize New Zion Temple Church. Pastor Johnson served as moderator of the meeting and Bishop Brandon A. Jacobs was accepted as Pastor of New Zion Temple Church. On January 7, 2007, New Zion Temple Church held its first services, “Sunday Morning Manna”, at Greater Deliverance Center C.O.G.I.C., Hammond, IN.
For the next four months, Sunday Morning Manna Worship services were held at 8:00 am. God moved so greatly that New Zion Temple Church outgrew that location. As the Lord continued to lead and guide Bishop Jacobs, God placed it on his heart to move New Zion Temple to a new location. On May 6, 2007, we moved our worship services to the Hammond Boys and Girls Club, Hammond, Indiana. For three years, New Zion Temple Church held weekly Sunday worship services at this location.
We remained faithful during this season evangelizing the land, engaging the lost and empowering them with the love of Jesus Christ. Through this time, New Zion Temple Church began to grow in so much that the Lord opened the door and blessed New Zion Temple to walk into our present Hammond location on Sunday April 4, 2010. In 2017, the Lord led Bishop Jacobs to open a second New Zion Temple Church location in Indianapolis, IN launched May 20, 2017.
Since its inception, the New Zion Temple family has tripled in size and our congregation continues to grow and magnify God. In 2021, God gave Bishop Jacobs the vision to “Maximize the Culture as a Hybrid Church.” We now have members and partners, better known as #NZTEverywhere, throughout the United States. We have established many ministries, enhanced our knowledge and equipped us with the necessary resources allowing us to serve our community. As New Zion Temple continues to grow, we ask that everyone remain prayerful because in unified prayer there is strength.
"Where there is no vision the people perish"
